Fariha is a short film about my grandmother, Fariha, recounting her memories of Afghanistan with me. It serves as a moving photograph, a beautiful depiction of Fariha and the moments from her life that she’s proud of and brings her the most joy. This film was shot by Tara Niami and scored by Yameem Sekandari. We premiered Fariha in 2022 at Jamyat Film Festival at Highland Theatres in Los Angeles. Below are photographs taken on set by Tara Niami, along with an interview where I go more in-depth about my intention behind bringing the film to life.
